Choosing The Right Clothing To Wear At The Snow

The ideal clothing for skiing or snowboarding should be comfortable and fit properly rather than purely being trendy. The level of protection you will need depends on conditions, the length of the trip and your experience. Ideally, the clothing should protect you from the cold and help absorb and falls.

Clothing for your body:

The following are some areas which should be considered:

-The clothing should be breathable and water proof. Avoiding denim and cotton are a must!

-You must find a balance between being warm and being to hot. Skiing or boarding causes perspiration.

-Don't wear bulky items of clothing as only layers will really make a difference in the cold

-The clothing also needs to be flexible enough to allow for a full range of movement. Don't want to not be able to move your legs because you are wearing 5 pairs of pants do you?

Clothing for your feet:

-It is best to wear a pair of thick hiking like socks. They will keep your feet warm and prevent too much moisture from getting through to your feet.

Clothing to cover the critical areas:

-Most body heat is lost through the head so it is essential that you wear a warm beanie. These days you can get long beanies which cover the ears which is great.

-Hands get very cold as well so invest in a good quality pair of gloves to prevent your fingers from feeling the cold.

Protection from sunburn:

-To protect your eyes from harmful UV rays of the sun, do not forget to wear sunglasses or goggles and protective sunscreen lotion to protect your skin from getting tanned.
